Review and Swatch: EF | Studio Eye Color Palette in E103

EF | Studio Eye Color Palette in E103

I grabbed 5 of these palettes in E101 (2), E102 (1), and E103 (2) at Coterie.com*
The palettes are still on sale for $35 with a choice of free lipgloss until November 30, 2012.
Come check out my review on this palette!

EF | Studio Eye Color Palette in E103

“There's absolutely no reason to have 50 eye shadow singles when 1, thoughtfully-designed palette - offering an entire realm of creative possibilities - will do. True minimalism comes from an exercise in relentless editing. Removing everything but the Essential Function of a product eliminates the chaos and clutter, leaving plenty of room for efficiency and creativity.

Each of our Eye Color Palettes feature 5 hand-blended, unique and totally wearable shades. Formulated using our signature EF | STUDIO® Buildable Color formulation for soft, seamless gradations of color, to ensure a perfect application every time. Plus, every single shade doubles as a wet-dry eyeliner.

EF | STUDIO® Integral Design means these expertly color-configured palettes are thoughtfully-designed to work intuitively and dynamically with every other eye product to maximize efficiency and free up more room for creativity.”

The Ingredients

It was so hard to open the darn box! But the palette came in a sleek black plastic case with a full size mirror inside the top lid and then the 5 round eye shadow pans on the other side. There’s no button to push the palette open so you have to do it manually. This packaging does attract finger prints/dust but I really don’t mind at all; if it really bugged me that much then I would have just wiped it off after each use.

Open Sesame!

They were soft and buttery maybe a bit too powdery that sometimes the product would go out of their pans but overall the application was really nice. I had to use my fingers for Non-Conformist on my lid because my brush wasn’t picking up anything at all. I used Rock Steady with a flat angled eyeliner brush and I had to go over it several times so it can be opaque. So, they weren’t that crazy pigmented. For the swatches, I had to go over it twice so the true colors can actually show up.

Non-Conformist, New Boheme, Hush Hush, Imaginarium, and Rock Steady

Non-Conformist – Olive green with yellow sheen
New Boheme – Light pistachio green
Hush Hush – Light Lilac
Imaginarium – Light plum
Rock Steady – Deep dark plum purple with pink shimmers

Original Retail: $45
Net Wt. 5 x 1.6 g / 0.05 oz

Here are the 2 eye looks that I created:

Eye Look #1:
Highlight - Smashbox Quad
Lid - Hush Hush
Crease - Imaginarium
Waterline - A little bit of Rock Steady
Bottom Lash Line - Hush Hush
Eyeliner - Urban Decay 24/7 Liquid Eyeliner in Retrograde

Eye Look #1:
Highlight - Smashbox Quad
Lid - Non-Conformist
Crease- Hush Hush and Rock Steady
Eyeliner - Rock Steady

The eye shadows were very easy to work with but I just wished that they were more pigmented (especially with a $45 price point). I would rather buy a bigger palette from brands like Urban Decay so it is worth the $. I have never heard of this brand before so I thought that I would give it a try. I picked up 5 of these eye shadow palettes (some duplicates) and I have 2 other ones to review. I also have 5 of their lip gloss in Dollhouse and I will soon be reviewing that also. Let’s just see if their other palettes are like this.

Ever heard or tried EF | Studio products?
Would you ever buy this palette for $45?

  7. Over priced! I prefer buying the Urban Decay or MAC products instead, and I haven't heard about the brand for the past few months..
