Review and Swatch: Urban Decay Smoked Palette

Urban Decay Smoked Palette

Finally reviewing this beautiful palette!!
Come check out my review on Urban Decay's Smoked Palette.

Urban Decay Smoked Palette (includes booklet, primer potion, eye liner, and 10 eye shadows)

This is the smoky eye done the UD way: a true range of shades (Neutral mattes! Shimmering jewel tones!) for a range of smoky looks.
We're giving you everything you need to create the perfect smoky eye, Urban Decay style. Zipped inside this sleek, mirrored case are ten decadent shades (five are exclusive), including neutral mattes and shimmering jewel tones for a range of smoky looks. Sure, you can create a smoky eye with a range of gray and black shades. But what about a touch of purple, blue or bronze? The Smoked Eyeshadow Palette lets you keep things simple… or get a little more creative. (TIP: If you need a basic daytime look, stick to the range of matte neutrals. Throw the palette in your bag, and add some smoke as you leave the office.)

Our secret smoky eye weapon? A blacker-than-black matte pencil. Included with the Smoked Palette is a full-size 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion, AND a travel-size Eyeshadow Primer Potion.

Also included is a beautifully illustrated, step-by-step guide to 12 smoky eye looks, written by Urban Decay founder Wende Zomnir. Both smoky-eye pros and shadow newbies will benefit from this detailed guide to looks from “iconic” to “smoldering” to “reality star”.

Zipper Case

This palette comes in a soft zip up case. I really like it because it’s different from their other palettes! On the outer top the word “SMOKED” is embossed and inside it has a mirror, 10 eye shadows, and 1 full size eye liner. The primer potion is in its new packaging and it was not in the palette but included with it.

Inside Packaging includes mirror, full sized eyeliner, and 10 eye shadows

These are their reformulated eye shadows which I already owned some before getting this… BUT, these eye shadows are so soft and pigmented, easy to blend, and there was barely any fall out. Really really really love Urban Decay’s eye shadow! The only ‘dry’ eye shadow I experienced in this palette was Blackout but other than that the rest of the eye shadows were excellent.

The 10 Eye Shadows in the Smoked Palette.

**Freestyle – Matte soft peach
Mushroom – Brownish Gray Taupe
**Backdoor – Matte Dark Brown
Blackout – Matte Deep/Dark Black

**Kinky, **Freestyle, Mushroom, **Backdoor, and Blackout.

**Barlust – Medium Brown
Rockstar – Dark Purple
Evidence – Medium Navy Blue
Loaded – Green Teal w/ Black Base

Original Retail: $49
How Much I Paid: $8.50 (20% off code = $50-$10=$40; had a $20 gift card to Sephora = $40-$20 + $3.50 tax = $23.50. Friend bought the full size perversion eyeliner for $15)

Eye Shadows: 10 x 0.8 g / 0.03 oz
Primer Potion: 3.7 mL / 0.13 fl. Oz
Eye Liner: 1.2 g / 0.04 oz

A really simple eye look created with 3 shades (Kinky, Barlust, and Rockstar)

I really love this palette. I love the packaging and all the contents included in this palette; from the 10 eye shadows to the primer potion, full size eyeliner in Perversion and the Smoked Get the Look Book. The price was just right at $49 even though I scored this for only $8.50! I already own most of Urban Decay’s eye shadows but how can I resist when they keep on making more palettes for such a low cost?! I also like the unique zipper up compact case; so cute for a great price. I'm planning to do another post with more eye looks from this palette!

Have you picked this up yet?
What are you eyeing from Urban Decay lately?

Thank you for reading!

  1. I haven't picked this up & since I already own the five shades that aren't exclusive to this set, I decided to pass. There's not much I'm eying from UD lately & I am still trying to hit pan on at least one item before I buy more & the fact I already have like.. around 15 Urban Decay palettes is a no for me. D:

    1. I also have a lot of urban decay palettes but.. It's never enough for me since I love Urban Decay! Haha I'm always wanting to pick up their eye shadow palettes (older ones) since I have the newer ones (NAKED BASICS IS COMING IN TMW!!) and some of their liquid eyeliners :) i rarely hit pan on anything so that would be really tough! Good luck though and thank you for always commenting :D

    2. UD Liquid Liners, I love! lol. I hope you like your NAKED Basics when it comes in tomorrow! I'm just going to hold out on it since it's supposed to be permanent anyway since I need to use my older UD palettes before they expire & if I get new ones now, they will just expire by the time I get to them. Mine is way over shelf life & I think if I keep it for any longer (BOS1 & 2) the texture will go bad. I hope they're coming out with a new line of lipsticks though! since they discontinued their old ones. & no problem! We're just two girls from the Bay Area that found each other through MUT! haha. & you messaged me before telling me that you collect makeup & don't use them on a daily basis, like me! :P

    3. Yes the liquid liners are amazing! I wanna get more but my bf said no.. Haha NOT listening to him though bc he'll probably buy them for me sooner or later (we're so spoiled -.-) haha dang you got the old old old palettes.. I wish that I had them but I just started like mid this year with makeup.. Darn it! & I don't think that I'll pick up their new lipsticks since their price point will be around ($20ish or more) since their discounted ones were originally $22.. I would rather stick with Revlon (my fav lip brand) & just wait for UD to put them on sale or something.. Anyways, I would love to see your makeup collection! Video please? I'm planning to do one soon when I'm more organized 'cause my review drawer is out of control..

    4. I know! My boyfriend bought me so much makeup today, he always says "I don't even splurge on myself because I splurge on makeup for you first!" lol. It's okay though, you're getting a lot of the makeup now, you don't even need to older ones! I sold a lot of my older ones I did not use either, like Alice in Wonderland & Sustainable palette. I have the Get Baked palette, which I am going to give it to a friend because I already have all the Baked eyeshadows from all other palettes. I think Revlon is also my favorite lip brand since the price point for it is not bad at all & I just started buying drugstore makeup this year (I usually always just get high-end, but never luxury). I had a video a few months ago, but it was way too long! lol. I don't even think I can do one with all my makeup in one video because I have makeup in two places since I live in two places. Can't wait to see your collection though!

    5. Your boyfriend sounds like mine -.- haha the older ones looks nice like the alice in wonderland..but i know that it isn't necessary since I have the 'newer' stuff.. Revlon definitely has a good price point and since I'm usually big on deals.. I try to find coupons or 40% off :) really nice that you're giving it to your friend though! I sell stuff to my friends for a lower price but it's brand new.. Haha mean or what? A girl needs her $ to buy other makeup -.- hahah you should do one but in 2 separate videos like part 1 and part 2.. I still need to make another nail polish rack.. So I'll wait to film the video :)
