Review and Swatches: MAC x Proenza Schouler Lipstick in Mangrove

*GIFT

"Colour plus texture for the lips that made M∙A∙C famous. The light pink lustre of Woodrose, vivid flamingo satin of Pinkfringe, bright orange-red of Mangrove and sheer berry plum of Primrose in limited-edition M∙A∙C Proenza Schouler packaging."

The packaging is to die for with a chrome ombre effect - keep in mind that MAC did bump up the price by $6 for this LIMITED EDITION special packaging. The lipstick tube is different from the regular MAC lipsticks since it is rectangular with a square base. It's heavier than your average MAC lipstick and feels so sturdy - so the overall packaging is very unique.

In a single pass you can get an opaque finish on your lips. The lipstick is creamy for a matte formula which makes it glide on with ease. It may feel a bit dry at times but that is typical with any matte formulas. I find this to be long lasting even after eating and drinking (picture below when I wrap things up in my 'overall' section).

Mangrove - Bright Orange Red (Matte)

Available at Bloomingdales, MAC, MACYS, and Nordstrom

Price: $22
Size: 0.10 oz

*My little sister gave this to me as a gift.

A MAC lipstick for $22?! Ehhh. I didn't find anything special about the product except for its gorgeous packaging. The formula was great for being matte but the shade is highly dupe-able even among the drugstores. I tend to not like these types of shades but I thought that it looked decent on me; it was just the perfect balance of orange and red. I definitely wouldn't run out and buy the other lipsticks in this collection even though the lipstick's formula and shade was amazing. I'm just not interested.. Especially when they're selling it for $22 each.

Here I am wearing MAC's Lipstick in Mangrove:

What's on my face:
Base/Foundation: Studio Gear CC Cream in Natural
Eyeliner: Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper
Lipstick: MAC Lipstick in Mangrove

So guys...

Would you pay $22 for a MAC Lipstick?

As always, thank you so much for taking the time to read my reviews.

  1. I like the packaging, and I think the color is gorgeous! But $22? It's a little too expensive (at least for me). With that said, I wouldn't mind getting it as a gift, haha!
